Tal der Shurr

The Valley of Shurr was a location in the ancient Jaredite territory, mentioned briefly in the context of the final battles between the forces of Coriantumr and Shiz. Specifically, it was used by Coriantumr as a staging ground. Before a defining engagement with his adversary, Coriantumr and his armies pitched their tents in the Valley of Shurr. This site was strategically situated near the hill Comnor, which played a significant role in these terminal conflicts of the Jaredite civilization. The hill served as a vantage point from which Coriantumr could rally his forces and sound a trumpet to challenge Shiz’s armies to battle (Ether 14:28). The Valley of Shurr, together with the adjacent valleys and hills including Corihor and Comnor, formed a prominent part of the hilly terrain near the east sea in the land northward, distinguished from the more centralized areas occupied by later Nephite and Lamanite populations. This valley bore witness to the climactic events that defined the end of Jaredite sovereignty, signaling a period characterized by extensive warfare and societal collapse.
