He played a pivotal part in advising the Nephite people against offensive military action, advocating a strategy that emphasized defensive fortification and unity, compelling the Gadianton robbers to assault their positions rather than seeking the enemy in their own lands (3 Nephi 3:20-21).
Under his guidance, the Nephites fortified themselves both spiritually and physically, preparing arms and armor for the impending battles (3 Nephi 3:26). His contributions, along with those of Lachoneus and other appointed leaders, ushered in an era of peace and righteousness among the Nephites, which lasted until approximately A.D. 28 (3 Nephi 6:6).
