Slings

Slings are weapons used with stones for hunting and battle. While traveling in the wilderness, Nephi’s group obtained food “with our bows and our arrows and our stones and our slings”. After his bow broke, Nephi armed himself “with a bow and an arrow, with a sling and with stones” before seeking food (1 Nephi 16:15-23).

Zeniff armed his people “with bows, and with arrows, with swords, and with cimeters, and with clubs, and with slings” before they went against the Lamanites (Mosiah 9:16). Ammon “began to cast stones at them with his sling,” and six men “had fallen by the sling” (Alma 17:36-38).

Zerahemnah’s army had “their stones and their slings” along with swords, cimeters, bows, and arrows (Alma 43:20).
