Esrom

Esrom was a son of Omer, who was the king of the Jaredites during a tumultuous period in their history. While Omer was under captivity by another of his sons, Jared, Esrom was born along with his siblings, including Coriantumr. Esrom and Coriantumr were significantly troubled by the actions of their brother Jared, so much so that they gathered a formidable force to confront and battle Jared’s army. It was during a nighttime engagement that Esrom and Coriantumr’s forces achieved victory over Jared’s army. Facing the prospect of death at the hands of his siblings’ army, Jared pleaded for his life, offering to abdicate the throne and restore it to their father, Omer.

True to their intent, Esrom and Coriantumr spared Jared, which allowed their father, Omer, to be reinstated as king (Ether 8:4–6). Though Esrom played a crucial role in restoring the kingdom’s rightful leadership, the historical record concerning Esrom’s life beyond this event is largely silent. His actions, however, were part of a series of conflicts that would continue to ripple through the Jaredite civilization, as recorded in the book of Ether.
