Kinder Ammon

The children of Ammon were a group with historical ties to biblical narratives, descending from Lot, the nephew of the patriarch Abraham. Their unique mention in the Book of Mormon, specifically within the writings of Nephi, who cites the prophet Isaiah, suggests a future time of peace and cooperation in Isaiah’s prophetic vision. According to Isaiah’s words, a unified effort between Ephraim and Judah would lead to them having dominion over surrounding regions, including the Philistines to the west and the children of Ammon, who, along with Edom and Moab, would obey them (2 Nephi 21:14; Isaiah 11:14). This brief but poignant mention places the children of Ammon within the eschatological framework of Isaiah’s prophecies, indicating a period of coming together and obedience among previously disparate and often contentious ancient Near Eastern peoples.
