Ammorons Diener

Ammoron’s servant played a brief but pivotal role in the final events of the life of the Nephite general Teancum. The servant is only mentioned once in the historical record, specifically in the context of Ammoron’s assassination. Teancum, driven by ire towards the Lamanite king, managed to infiltrate the enemy’s encampment and assassinate Ammoron by striking him in the heart with a javelin (Alma 62:36). The act, however, did not go undetected, as Ammoron, in his dying moments, was able to awaken his servants. It was at this moment that the unnamed servant pursued Teancum and, in retribution for the attack on their king, killed him.

The servant’s actions contributed to the continuing strife between the Nephites and the Lamanites, as it removed one of the most capable leaders of the Nephite military. The death of Teancum, a strategic and valiant commander, was undoubtedly a setback for the Nephite forces during this protracted period of war. Despite the servant’s significant impact on Nephite military leadership and the course of the war, no further details regarding their identity or subsequent actions are provided in the historical record.
