Meat is food that Amulek set before Alma. After receiving Alma into his house, Amulek “brought forth bread and meat and set before Alma” (Alma 8:21).
Before going down into the ship, the group prepared “much fruits and meat from the wilderness” and provisions according to the Lord’s commandment (1 Nephi 18:6). The robbers had “nothing save it were meat for their subsistence,” which they obtained in the wilderness (3 Nephi 4:19).
