Family

Family is the group of parents, children, husbands, and wives described among the people of the earth. Nephi said that he had been “born of goodly parents” and taught in “all the learning of my father” (1 Nephi 1:1). Adam and Eve “have brought forth children; yea, even the family of all the earth” (2 Nephi 2:19-25).

The Lord told Lehi that he should not take “his family into the wilderness alone,” and that his sons should take daughters to wife and “raise up seed unto the Lord” (1 Nephi 7:1). Jacob said, “their husbands love their wives, and their wives love their husbands; and their husbands and their wives love their children” (Jacob 3:1-8).

The repentant Zoramites received inheritances in Jershon and “have taken up arms to defend themselves, and their wives, and children, and their lands” (Alma 35:14). Mormon urged his people to fight for “their wives, and their children, and their houses, and their homes” (Mormon 2:23).
