Das Tal von Gilgal' (Malai Geographiemodell)

The Valley of Gilgal is recognized within the Book of Mormon as a site of intense and significant conflict during the Jaredite era, particularly noted for the military engagements between the forces of Coriantumr and Shared. This location was the setting of two fierce battles that were pivotal in the ongoing struggle for dominance among the Jaredite factions. The initial clash, a grueling contest that lasted for three days, saw Coriantumr emerge victorious. He pressed his advantage, pursuing the retreating Shared to the plains of Heshlon (Ether 13:28–29). The fortunes of war shifted on the plains, with Shared winning decisively and driving Coriantumr back to the valley. Nevertheless, persistence marked Coriantumr’s campaign as he renewed the struggle against Shared in the Valley of Gilgal. In this subsequent encounter, Coriantumr succeeded in defeating and slaying Shared, asserting his supremacy once again in this region marked by violent confrontation (Ether 13:30–31). The narrative underlines the valley not only as a geographical location but also as a symbol of the tumultuous period, reflecting the broader cycles of war and leadership contests among the Jaredites.
